PARADIGM SHIFT IN ELECTRONIC MEDIA AND EDUCATION IN AN ICT ERA IN NIGERIA: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES
Abstract
The world is witnessing a paradigm shift with regard to how information and knowledge is transmitted, distributed, accessed and processed. Education world wide and specifically in Nigeria has experienced many changes in the last century but none of them is as profound as the effects of information and communication technology (ICT). The integration process of diversified information transmission media has contributed effectively in dissemination of information paradigm in Nigeria, by facilitating new opportunities in our everyday lives. This paper therefore, examines the paradigm shift in electronic media and education in an ICT era considering some of the prospects and challenges of integrating ICT into the educational sector through the use of television and radio for a wider coverage.
